Courtney’s creative instincts inspire her innovative hair designs and color concepts. Since graduating from Mitchell’s Academy more than nine years ago, she has established herself as a hair “fashionista” who keeps her skills sharp and trends forward looking with continuing education at Bumble & bumble University in New York. This Durham native is eager to create your next cut, unique one-of-a-kind bob, dimensional color or special occasion hair style.
For the past decade Kristie has been crafting brilliant color and cuts from coast to coast. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, she headed west to Los Angeles where she trained at the internationally acclaimed Vidal Sassoon Academy. While in L.A. she styled hair for events including the Radio Music Awards, Clear Channel, L.A. Magazine, Disney’s High School Musical, Showtime and the L.A. Lakers.
Kristie returned to her North Carolina roots in 2007, and her talents quickly grew a loyal following and led her to open Vent Salon in 2011. Always on the cutting edge of fashion and style, she takes regular training through Bumble & bumble’s University in New York, and has also taken specialty courses with Oribe, Toni and Guy, Graham Webb and Paul Mitchell.
Whether you want your hair color to be subtly natural or vibrantly bold and editorial, Shelly specializes in creating the perfect shade for each of her clients. Over the past five years she has carved out a niche in special-effects color and cuts, and high-fashion hair. To stay current with trends and new techniques she has attended classes with Bumble & bumble, Paul Mitchell and Redken, and is also trained in corrective color and Keratin Smoothing Treatments.
Rick’s styling talents are as diverse as his life experiences. Hailing from Canada originally, and having lived in San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Vermont, he brings years of experience and an array of creative careers to Vent. He specializes in designing customized hairstyles and color that suit your lifestyle, hair type and maintenance needs. Highlighting, Keratin smoothing treatments, chemical straightening, color correction and precision haircuts are also in his repertoire.
The Bull City has been Ashleigh’s stomping grounds since she was born, and now she’s making her mark on hairdos across the Triangle. A graduate of the prestigious Aveda Institute of Chapel Hill, clients always leave her chair looking and feeling their best. Highlights, haircuts and specialty styling are her forte, and she’s always eager to add to her impressive repertoire of skills to better serve her clients.
Raised in High Point, North Carolina, Melody moved to the Triangle years ago to pursue her passion for hair. Before launching her career, she honed her skills at the prestigious Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill. Not long after, her talent for color and haircuts received glowing reviews, earning her a loyal client following. At Vent, she is excited to continue to grow her skillset and take advantage of ongoing education opportunities to better serve her clients.
Manager, owner and a jack-of-all-trades, Chris is the engine that keeps the salon running. Having built most of the salon himself, he has since traded in his work boots to manage Durham’s premiere salon with his wife Kristie. Prior to Vent he oversaw ironwork construction of large buildings across the southeast. In his spare time he enjoys putting his black belt to good use and teaching martial arts.
Having worked in the service industry for many years, Brad came to Vent to lend his extensive experience in customer service to the salon’s clientele. As the salon coordinator, he assists with scheduling, sales and general salon operations. Prior to Vent, Brad attended Ohio University in his home state before relocating to the Triangle with his son.
